It’s probably not what you think.
Have you ever driven your car from point A to point B and arrived at your destination without any conscious recollection of turning, merging with traffic, or stopping along the way? You safely drove the car a great distance, yet your mind was elsewhere. This is often referred to as “highway hypnosis”.
Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxed focus. It is used to access a deep state of meditation from which subconscious beliefs and associations can be seen and understood. From awareness comes change, and hypnosis helps facilitate both.
Most people experience hypnosis as a relaxed state of being. Some feel light and free, others feel peaceful and embodied. Some have visual imagery, while others experience auditory, tactile, or even olfactory sensations. For others, there’s a greater sense of connection with their feelings. Ultimately, most people experience guided hypnosis sessions as a very deep form of meditation.
